Establishing eligibility for and certifying those applying for WIC are crucial steps in a participant’s experience with the Program. To support WIC staff in these efforts, the WIC Certification and Eligibility Resource and Best Practices Guide was created. This brief guide compiles existing regulations and best practices that WIC State and local agencies and clinics can consider in their work and walks WIC personnel through the certification process. It’s meant to assist in streamlining the certification process and to enhance the consistency of applying policy across all WIC programs to ultimately provide leading customer service to potential WIC participants. Release of this Guide is the USDA Food and Nutrition Service’s broader effort to communicate and clarify certification policies.
